A Shell for the Web...

IOVAR begins as a collection of web utilities on a Java foundation. It continues by providing a web-aware shell environment and scripting language. Common patterns, protocols, and schemas are embraced to provide familiar environments for the user and wider opportunity for automation.

1.1 Release Imminent

  • Documentation system (these docs)
  • Sources and releases available on GitHub
  • JAR executable bit retention via /sys/exec mapping

Migration from iovar.win to iovar.net

The more easily-recognizable iovar.net domain name has now been chosen for all official IOVAR developments and releases, and abandon the old website at iovar.win. Any references to the old domain or package namespace must be updated.

Message from the Developer

I am happy to share the IOVAR system in the hopes that others may find it useful.

IOVAR has been an exploration into applying Unix concepts on a modern web-aware namespace filesystem operating in a JVM and offering a powerful scriptable shell with MIME-based content negotiation. The current state of the platform still contains some bugs and lacks a few key features but it does run and can operate a data-driven website such as a blog or product listing and shopping cart without much issue. IOVAR continues to be a work-in-progress.
